2023-2024 Call for seeds from Director of the Seed Exchange

Hello Members,

The 2023-24 seed exchange will open on December 15th as usual. I look forward to receiving seed from as many of you as possible this year. Last year we received seed from 14 members. I would like to thank them again now. They are Dylan Neibauer, Lynn Taylor, Elliot Gordon, John Roden, Jay Shields, Lupita Wesseler, Beth Cordin, Jay Lunn, Donald Mitchell, Mikel Stevens, Donald Barnett, Mike Kintgen, Carolyn Fifer and Andrey Zharkikh.

I am happy to receive any quantity of seed, cleaned or not. The exchange depends on donations and the society members benefit from your generosity so they can grow a variety of Penstemons in their gardens.

Last season we mailed out 391 packets of seed to 28 members in 11 states, Canada, and 5 counties in Europe.

Please consider donating seed today. Zip-lock type bags work great for this. Just list the variety, wild or garden grown, and location. If you have additional information please include it, such as flower color, elevation, etc. Other members may find the information useful.

You can mail donations to:
Rick Wesseler
2841 NE Shepard Road
Bend, OR 97701

Thank you in advance for your support of the exchange.

How the Seed Exhange Works

The exchange is open from December 15th to March 1st each year. Sorry, we cannot fill orders outside of those dates. Orders placed in December will not be shipped until after the Christmas, so they don’t get lost in the mail.

Donors – Donors may request as many packets of seed (up to 20) as they donated, free of charge. Donors are given preference for choices, when practical.

Overseas Members – May continue to request up to 10 packets free of charge. Additional packets, up to 10, may be requested with payment.

Ordering – Seed request forms will be available for order placement. Members can order up to 20 packets.
